Consciousness acts as a proof of God as it has no physical presence in the world, no measurable dimensions and is unfathomable scientifically, yet we know it exists and it controls our very lives. Robert H. Nelson said, “Recognizing that he could not reconcile his own scientific materialism with the existence of a nonphysical world of human consciousness, a leading atheist, Daniel Dennett, in 1991 took the radical step of denying that consciousness even exists.” The supernatural character of the workings of human consciousness provides us with a comparison with God and a question of how atheists can reconcile thoughts with their atheism. Writing in an article for The Conversation, Mr Robert Nelson said: "How can physical atoms and molecules, for example, create something that exists in a separate domain that has no physical existence: human consciousness?” “One French patient’s skull “was filled largely by fluid, leaving just a thin perimeter of actual brain tissue.” He was married and father of two children. His IQ was considered low but he was gainfully employed. Cognitive scientist Axel Cleeremans remarked, “A theory of consciousness that depends on ‘specific neuroanatomical features’ (the physical make-up of the brain) would have trouble explaining such cases.”
Another man became significantly brain-absent in an accident but made a remarkable recovery. Then there was the normal 88-year-old man whose brain had never had a connection (corpus callosum) between the two halves.” Since we see that the naturalist theory of consciousness is relatively weak, we are left with an argument of consciousness being an illusion; this is an argument that science will never explain. In the words of physicist Enzo Tagliazucchi, what causes our sentience will “remain unknown”. Allah SWT gives us life and consciousness.
