And when they came across a valley of ants, an ant warned, “O ants! Go quickly into your homes so Solomon and his armies do not crush you, unknowingly."

It appears that, from my limited understanding of the Quran, Allah(SWT) identifies the ant as female. I thought that was interesting and unusual, so I did a quick google search about ants and discovered that the vast majority of ants are indeed female. Can anybody confirm this?
