No matter how much I try, I find myself going through this cycle. And I don't mean becoming a total degenerate when I'm free from danger. Just that I do the bare minimum and call it a day - pray 5 times, but skip sunnah, nafl, not go to the mosque, etc. It almost feels like my love towards Allah is just conditional on Him rescuing me time after time, which only makes me momentarily pious each time. I feel bad thinking about this.
