Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters,

My name is Tawhid and my friends like to call me Taw. Is it haraam to call me by a shortened version of my name? My mother says it is haraam and I should tell them to stop. I also call my friends with a shorter version of their name for example:

Rafio = Rafi

Shakil = Shak

Please help me out and some hadith would be great
