Putting the whole Taliban issue aside, we all know there is a humanitarian catastrophe in relation to Afghanistan. Canada, USA, UK and many other western nations have pledged and indeed taken in thousands and even tens of thousands of Afghan refugees. So has Pakistan and India.
This has all made me wonder there is so much wealth in the Arab states in the middle east. Why isn’t there is a similar pledge and action on their part? I’m talking about Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Bahrain and others. Shouldn’t the rich Muslim states do this even more enthusiastically than other states? Speaking from personal experience in the west refugees are looked after, housed, given an education and citizenship etc. Why don’t our own rich Muslim states do that as well?
I’m really interested in what you all think.
