As-salamu alaykum! I just wanted to say thank you for this community, who have been so supportive in my journey to convert to Islam. It has very much been appreciated, and all the advice that I have been given.

Some people have asked me why I have chosen to convert to Islam, so I thought I would take this time to explain.

I was brought up in a non religious household, with an agnostic father and a mother who used to be Catholic. Before turning myself to Christianity; I was one of those people who was very into tarot, psychics etc. I would be lying if I said that Christianity didn’t help me a lot: the religion definitely helped me to get out of some dark places and allowed me to realise the value of my life.

However; I always felt like reading the Bible was always a bit of a burden for some reason, and I fell out of love with the religion in general.

Recently I had started to do research into Islam, and many aspects of the religion drew me in. The idea of praying 5 times a day made me so happy, as I feel like having a dedicated few times to spend with Allah SWT is amazing, and I find the hijab to be a beautiful modest garment to wear, just to name a couple.

Unfortunately my story is quite short, however I wanted to know how you all came to believe in the teachings of Islam. Did you grow up in a Muslim family? Are you a revert? I love being able to listen to people’s stories, so it would be great to hear from you all :)
