I was wondering what does predestination mean to you and what does it mean in Islam.
I have seen countless of times people saying in the (Muslim marriage sub reddit for instance) things along the lines of :
'I feel like I am not destined to have anybody' , or 'if things didn't work out in a marriage, it was because God has something better planned for you'.
Reading this, doesn't even makes sense to me, it is as if those people know the unseen. Do they genuinely believe it is true, or is it just a way to rationalize things? To my understanding predestination means that God is all-knowing and all-poweful. Whatever happened, happens or will happen to you God already knows. Whatever God has decided will happen.
However if something happens to you, I don't necessarily believe it happened because God 'wanted' it to happen but rather because God let this to happen.
Please share your opinions, I am very curious.
