Looking for potential Hadith on the Prophet SA explaining to the Sahaabah RA the sin of the people of Lut AS, and they laughed when they first heard it

I vaguely remember a Hadith of either the Prophet SA or perhaps a sahaabah RA explaining what the sin of the people of Lut AS was, and the people / or sahaabah present laughed. Then the Prophet SA / person explaining affirmed it again, and a narrator said something along the lines of, if he hadn’t told us we would have never believed it.

Anyone have a reference or something that would clarify the perhaps fuzzy memory above.
