Assalamalaikum. Long time lurker first time r/Islam poster. So I watched a video of a pre-recorded Khutbah today and it had a wonderful message in it. The Khutbah was broadcast live on YouTube with Chat section open, and as such, the comments were playing on the sidebar chat window as the Khutbah was going on. I saw one poster say the video isn't live. Then I saw another poster respond by saying it's live. 20 minutes later, as you know it, these two posters are in full blown argument with each other, invoking words of Quran and such. I'm like....what the? Calling each other names...over such a small, dumb thing. I ignored it to focus on khutbah and when it ended, they were still fighting each other! Like, why are you even here.

Now I want to give benefit of the doubt that they could be children or someone who may not be able to communicate properly in english. Because the alternative is so much worse. Instead of taking away lessons from the khutbah here I am concerned and frustrated with the way some of us act online. Doesnt Islam teach you that even if you are in the right, if you stop an argument, you will be rewarded? Where are our manners? Why are we arguing with random MUSLIMS no-less, about the most nonsensical things imaginable?

Sorry for the rant, I wanted to get this off my chest.

For reference, this was the khutbah: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0xbXTy0NLzI
