Assalaam,
I made a huge mistake today. I consumed alcohol and immediately regretted it and poured it out and now Allah SWT won't accept my prayers for 40 days (if I am wrong please educate me). I had a horrible lapse in judgement and purchased and consumed alcohol and heavily regret it and I have been up all night in depression. I am a new convert of a year and I have been learning about Islam for years and I think that I should be knowledgeable and held accountable for my poor decision. I am just so beside myself and what can I do to ask Allah SWT for forgiveness and have my prayers accepted?
I'm so depressed and mad at myself that I had done this and I don't know where else to turn to. What can I do?
