Hi guyz,
I am 18M born in India, born in a Christian family (not really strict) so here is my story:
Since I was born, religious teachings were taught to me. Now the whole religion thing sounded too important to me as it should, or at least my family members didn't take it seriously. So recently I thought to myself, if the point of this life turns out to be afterlife, then this topic must be taken seriously and must be decided and understood carefully. Now as soon as I realized this I started to dig into the whole religion thing and it messed my head so much.
As soon as I started listening to people who left Christianity to embrace any other religion or no religion at all, I understood that I was fed wrong information all my life. And I realized that many people who left it were kind and humble and respectable contrary to what I was told in church, and no I didn't think demons were manipulating them.
Listening to such stories and trying to understand mentality of human beings really gave me completely different perspective for viewing the world.
So, I finally thought it was time that I scrutinize my religion and try to find the truth. Instead of reading and researching the original gospels or reading the old testament and finding historical or scientific errors, like many other people; I indulged myself into a different thought process. I contemplated on the idea that, if 4299 religion are false and only 1 is true(obviously), then how did the other religion come into existence and how did they propagate and why did people believe in it in general? What was the reason of making a religion out of scratch? Slowly I was understanding the answers to these questions. Many religions were made to control, or gain wealth and power. Many people believed in it because people were hungry for a purpose/meaning for their lives, so much so that they were ready to buy anything that the powerful sold.
And then I had this idea:
Now if it was not God making all 4300 religions then it must have been men(every thief leaves some kind of evidence behind), so chances are that the man-made gods constituted human attributes, because they couldn't think any better, at least for their time they thought it was enough for their purpose.
So in order to find out if a religion is true, you just gotta see if the God is having human attributes or not. AND NO IF THERE IS A GOD WHO CREATED ALL OF US, HE WOULD NOT HAVE HUMAN ATTRIBUTES BECAUSE WE ARE HIS CREATION not his friends or offspring...
Reasons I left Christianity for:
-As soon as I understood this, Yahweh was like obvious to me, like there was no question about it, his human form, Jesus's existence etc.
-The word Israel means: "one who prevailed god" or something along those lines. The story is that Jacob was given this name for wrestling god(or an angel). Still, God showing human qualities.
- The problem with Hell.(even though it's not in the original gospels but the catholic church accepts it so...)
-And many other contradictions and inaccuracies that I know but didn't give a lot of attention to.(by hearing people who converted)
Now I could have consulted a priest and asked him about these doubts. But would you consult Charles Darwin regarding doubts against his theory of evolution or would you like to hear criticism and skepticism. Or would you consult to Satan in Satan churches to ask if he would give us what he promised...
I was a brilliant student(I topped like majority of my classes) and also very disciplined (not bragging but just to show that; me leaving Christianity was not out of laziness or any other "responsibility " issue.
About Islam:
Now when I dived into Islam, it seemed very interesting, or at least different (I don't know might just be my biases or anything) but I really thought I would research in this religion.
But now the problem is that Islam still carries some of factors that made me doubt Christianity.
Like for example, the 99 names of Allah have some human attributes ( it could just be me being too paranoid about everything but sticks out to me so much). Like being the most merciful, I know it is a good quality but like a very strong arm is a very good quality but is human and the Hell, with all its punishment being justified.
I might also turn out to be very wrong here. My whole mentality could be fallacious. So please correct me if I am wrong.. OR There might be a God with Human attributes who wants people to face that kind of punishment. idk
If you read this far you are an amazing person!
So finally I am asking you a favor what do you think would convince me to follow Islam beyond dispute, please state your arguments/proofs/evidence in the comment section, I might reply on what I think of them. Please not the traditional ones, because chances are I have already heard of them and, no they are not convincing...
