Assalamou aleykoum

Eventhough the quran says to not be arrogant at all , and I'm sure many hadiths also say it , I also remember reading a text about a very pious muslim in the past who said " if everyone was to go to heaven but one to hell , I would be scared of that person being me " , I until now though " yes | understand but I can't just lie to myself , if I do many good deeds and less bad deeds I will go to heaven it is just rational / logical " . But something happened that made me understand only now that it is wrong to think that , many months ago I had an exam and I had studied a lot for it , 2 weeks of hard studying and had finished all the long exercices , and I was truly aiming to get 19.5 / 20 , and I though " I have studied so much , I will have more than 16/20 without a single doubt , it is only rational and logical " , and you know what my grade was ? 0,5 . And I was the kind of dude in high school who would work for an hour and get 16 so it was a SHOCK . The exact opposite of what I was aiming at . I kept thinking " how is that even possible ? What the hell happened " and I understood that no matter how sure we are of something , no matter how rational it is , we know nothing and Allah knows everything , I though it was rational for me to not possibly have less than 16/20 , if I can be this wrong and get 0,5 in the end , I can also think I was a very good muslim and will surely go to heaven and yet go to hell for a very , very long time because who are we to think we are so smart ? There are so many things we don't know.

So first thing is to not have the arrogance to think we can logically know if what we did can make us go heaven , and acknowledge that our sense of logic cannot go to that extent . And second thing , let's see life as a race of 100m , and when we reach 100m it is someone who looks like a realllly good muslim , no shirk , lots of prayers and good behaviour etc etc , but whay if unlike most of the other people he didn't start at Om but Allah made him start at 30m ? He must never stop and think that what he has done is enough , he must always improve so he reaches 130m so he has finally ran 100m in total . That's also why we must not look down on others , because not only our higher iman can be something that God gave us to test us , so we must not think we are great for having high iman , but someone who looks like a not very good muslim may be someone who started at -30m , and even if he only reaches 70m in the race , wich can make him look not good enough of a muslim , is in fact a really gold effort of him and is enough to make him go to heaven if he runs 100m.

Thanks, feel free to tell your thoughs any improvement is a step forward, Allah knows and may he guide us.
