Take this really serious message from a Muslim Indonesian decrying the lukewarm support so many people seem to be giving the Taliban:

What strikes me is the sheer number of people in that thread and on social media believing that Chinese supremacy/intervention is welcome. And more importantly have either nothing to say about actual Uigher oppression or believe it's a massive conspiracy concocted by the 'Western Media'.
Afghanistan will gain lots of cash by allowing the Chinese in (with debatable benefits) but to somehow welcome a government that is openly demolishing hundreds (thousands?) of mosques, preventing Muslims from practicing any aspect of their religion, erasing languages and ideas, imprisoning thousands of men and women for allegedly being terrorists or harbouring extremist views, separating young children from their families for indoctrination, disappearing people and worse... yet somehow Muslims (especially Pakistanis) think that is better than the US or Britain?
I'm intrigued to understand why so many Muslims are disbelieving Uigher oppression is a real thing and why China should be welcomed by (Muslim) countries as welcome partners.
