Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters.

This has been bothering me a lot as of late. But it seems that many in our Ummah lack critical thinking and self reflection. We are quick to blame others for our own mistakes. Everytime I go on Instagram or FB, I see our fellow Muslims blaming US or Israel whenever there's news reports on suicide bombings or terrorist attacks.

Now, I am anti Zionism and anti-US imperialism just as much as the next guy, but to turn a blind eye on the atrocities committed by misguided Muslims and constantly shifting the blame on western powers shows lack of critical thinking. It seems like our hatred for the West has blinded us from the fact that there are bad Muslims. Just like there are bad Christians, Hindus etc. It doesn't matter if we don't consider the like of Al Qaeda or ISIS muslims, but these people themselves do, and unfortunately for us, in the eyes of others, they also represent Muslims just like us.

I'm well aware that the US (under the shade of 'war on terror' or spreading democracy) have done some indespicable acts – the Iraq invasion sham, and their bombings that often results in civilian casualties. However, I think we as Muslims need to also step back and realise that our Ummah is partly to blame for our situation right now. Most of the times, we enabled them. They take advantage of our situation. Case in point, Israel. Read how Israel even managed to be formed.

Recently, two bombs went off outside Kabul airport and news were shared on social media. Again, in the comment section, I see Muslims blaming the US or Israel. Some go as far as suggesting they were planted by them. If these people had ciritcal thinking, they'd realise that It wouldn't make much of a sense for the US to do it. It was neither committed by the US or Taliban. It was ISIS.

  1. The evacuation is still underway. There are people of different nationalities still evacuating their residents. It's not just Afghans.

  2. It's been reported that one of the bomb that went off is a suicide bomb. ISIS are famous in carrying out such attacks. Not americans.

  3. The US Pentagon already had Intel beforehand that there was an attack imminent, and the perpetrators are most likely from ISIS-K. They've already warned other nations and Afghans themselves.

  4. It has been confirmed that amongst the dead are American Marines and civilians.

Really, it's sad to see our ummah like this. It's probably lack of education since more often than not, those making such comments come from the lesser developed countries. Maybe this is why the help of Allah seems so far. We don't reflect on ourself and look at how we've strayed away for the deen. We are lost. We divide ourselves, we push the blame to others etc. It's always someone's fault, but not ours.

May Allah guide and protect us all.
