Hey, r/Islam. One thing I was curious about for the practicing Muslims, is how do you have a balanced mindset of knowing when to live and let live versus telling your fellow brothers and sisters when they’re making a mistake?
As a non-Muslim who’s interested in Islam, this is something that I’ve thought about because while I do want to encourage accountability and better choices in the people I care about, I also believe that sometimes, it’s best to just let them make their own mistakes. After all, I’m a sinner. And while I would appreciate having people around me who care enough to let me know when I’m making a mistake, I also don’t want someone reminding me every second. We all make mistakes, and no one is perfect. For me, that’s not necessarily an excuse, though it can be.
It’s a reality of life. Does it just depend on the mistake and sin they have committed? Or are you supposed to let them know every single time you feel they’re not living in a way that’s holistic to their deen?
