Are paintings haram or makrooh ?

I bought a small painting and and didn't realize it was a bad thing until my father reminded me

It has an owl head and it water painted ( I'll post a picture of it on my profile )

I just want to know if it's haram to keep one or just makrooh to decide what to do with it
