My "wife" (been together 14 years never officially married) is Muslim and has brought our children up Muslim. I don't eat pork or drink out of respect for her religion but I have also never been religious (I believe in God but I don't really "believe" any religion). Her father was pretty abusive and forced her to marry young and that husband was very abusive, because of this she still considered herself Muslim but stopped praying and had children with a Non-Muslim (me). Due to her brother's sudden passing she has started praying again and is teaching our children as well. I have started to take an interest in learning and we even participated in the last Ramadan and I tried to pray during Ramadan as well. I haven't said Shahadah and I still don't know how to pray but I'm very interested in doing both. I guess my question is:
- Am I allowed to pray without having said Shahadah?
- Are there any good ways to learn to pray?
- Do I have to pray in Arabic?
Of note I don't live near a Mosque and there are no Muslims in the community so have incredibly limited resources and I'm terrible at self teaching.
