AOA, I wanted to talk about an issue with all of you. Reddit is the last resort i have because most of islamic fatawa websites don't answer questions quickly or not at all. I am hoping some knowledgable brothers and sisters could help me in this issue.

So my question is about Keeping Pictures at home. First of All, it is known to many that Angels don't enter a house in which there is an image or a dog. I dont have the time or energy to look for the hadith reference but it is authentic and well known. And it is known that making images(drawings/sketches) or statues of animate beings i.e humans and animals is strictly forbidden and those who make such images will be severely punished on the Day of Judgement.

However, as most of us know, and agree, that photography or videography, is not haram as has been agreed by majority of the scholars. Yes, there are scholars who forbid it. But I am not inclined to their view and don't think it is the right view.

SO A DISCLAIMER: If you are of the view that photos are forbidden, then PLEASE, PLEASE, for the Sake of Allah, who is My Lord and Your Lord, DO NOT comment on this post because the question is based on the fact that it is permissible.

So the hadith we see here states that Angels of Blessings and Mercy don't enter a house in which there are images. And most obviously, it is forbidden to hang pictures of humans or animals inside homes based on this hadith. So we have established this fact.

Now, on to my Main Question: Does this hadith apply to pictures that are not hung up in high places and are not respected? I mean pictures that are on magazines, newspapers, book covers, currency notes or inside books? I mean the pictures that are not that prominent as those that are on walls. Photos inside computers or mobile phones aren't haram according to lots of scholars, their articles and videos.

Along with that, many of these same scholars say that there is no problem if the pictures are hidden or are enclosed within a book, are inside an album. So by this, we can establish the fact that keeping photo albums aren't haram, though some may differ, but i am FIRMLY inclined to this view.

Again, from my research, majority of scholars have said that images which are treated with disrespect aren't haram, such as those that are on floor or are on cushions or pillows which is evidenced by various hadiths. But what about pictures that aren't disrespected nor are they venerated?

Another thing: Digital pictures and videos are without doubt permissible. But when you are praying Salah, do you have to turn off the TV, laptop and computer? Will praying Salah while the image of an animate being is open on the TV, Laptop or computer prevent the Angels from entering? And regarding the pictures on newspapers and magazines, do you also have to hide the pictures? As in, do you have to turn over the magazine and newspapers when you are not using them?

Some sources have said that due to these images on newspapers, magazines, currency notes are unavoidable and are 'unfortunately' widespread and so one will not be sinful for keeping them. But is having these images and printing these images in normal circumstances permissible?

My dear brothers and sisters, this is an issue that has been affecting me. By that, I mean i am being afflicted with whispers and doubts. I am having doubts about whether is it permissible to keep such pictures, the ones i mentioned above in the main q. I have prayed to Allah so many times the past week to remove these whispers and doubts and to make me confident that this is halal. I have prayed Tahajjud in the last third of night these past few days. I am a practicing Muslim Alhamdulilah, I pray 5 times a day, I fast and do all of the obligations i am required to do.

Another important thing, I accept all the commands and laws of Islam that Allah and His Prophet have ordered us to do, so for your information, I am not a liberal Muslim. I am not trying to change the religion here nor am i trying to follow my whims and desires. But this issue has been bugging me for the past few weeks.

For the past few weeks, because of this issue and some another issue, I have been feeling demotivated. I have summer holidays, and because of these doubts and frustration and demotivation, I have wasted my time a lot. I could have done productive things like learning new things, preparing for school and getting into new hobbies and also changing my habits and routine over the summer. So I just wish that these doubts could be removed. So i can feel motivated again and go back to my normal routine. I wasted a lot of time searching fatwas and islamic websites about this issue.

So my dear brothers, can you please remove my doubts? Can you please provide evidence from good scholars that keeping these pictures in homes is halal?

Another question: Is there any difference of opinion regarding my issue?
