A recent discussion with someone brought this point out. When someone says so and so is religious, it's often their Ibadah that's pointed out. Their salah, zakat, appearance etc. But Islam is so much more than that.
Our Islam is in the way we speak to people. Our Islam is in the way we stay silent. Our Islam is in the way we benefit people. Our Islam is in the way we become violent. Our Islam is in the way we love our friend. Our Islam is in the way we treat our enemy. Our Islam is in the way we take up charge. Our Islam is in the way we let some things be. Our Islam is in the way we laugh. Our Islam is in the way we cry. Our Islam is in the way we know we're not perfect. Our Islam is in the way we nevertheless try. Our Islam is in the way we dress. Our Islam is in the way we earn our bread. Our Islam is in the way we don't let fears intimidate us. Our Islam is in the way success doesn't go to our head. Our Islam is in the way we honor our parents. Our Islam is in the way we fulfil each trust. Our Islam is in the way we teach our children. Our Islam is in the way we remain just. Our Islam is in the way we read. Our Islam is in the way we write. Our Islam is in the way we react. Our Islam is in the way we fight. Our Islam is in the way we walk with humility. Our Islam is in the way we break and mend. Our Islam is not just the way we live. But our Islam is also the way we meet our end.
