Assalaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

I didn't know that you have to finish eating by the time of fajr before you fast. So I took my time until 20 minutes after fajr, thinking it's up until sunrise. So is my fast still valid? I genuinely didn't know
