So, I thought this sorry excuse of an answer up.

An argument I've heard is that people didn't stop going to the mosques during the plagues even when there were high death rates and that people socially distancing while praying are wrong. The people who use this arguments don't understand that them still going to the mosques is exactly why there were high death rates.

People also argue that the plagues were more effective, and that us being afraid of Covid shows how far we've fallen. While this may be true to an extent, population played a massive role. The human population back then was much lower than it is now. However, humanity wasn't as spread out as it is now, and tons of people lived in the same areas. The plagues were more effective because of this.

tl;dr: praying while socially distancing is the right thing to do.
