Salaam. I would like to acknowledge that this is a serious discussion.

The reason why you should not send your children to your local mosque (regardless of country), but rather choose online class, is because there is a high chance they have experienced or seen verbal or physical abuse from the teacher. It’s a fact.

My friends and I were one of those students who suffered everyday, here in England, for being ordinary children. I never really opened up, but it’s had some long term impacts, even after 10+ years. For this reason, I have always felt ‘forced’ to be a Muslim rather than wanting to be one. I know there is a peaceful side and I wouldn’t choose any other religion, based on its values.

It was never taught peacefully. It was a horrendous experience, to say the least, and I know for a fact, other boys are going through or have gone through the same experience as me, globally. It never stops, until we all stand up and cut the flow of in-person classes and migrate children to online learning. Discipline is a parent’s responsibility, in a non-abusive way (grounding, taking phones etc) not by some stranger with a ruler, pen or hoover stick, etc.

Parents - speak to your children, in a calm, approachable way.

Happy to answer any questions you may have.
