Finally got done with reading this book by Joram Van Klaveren. You can find it [on amazon](https://smile.amazon.com/Apostate-Joram-van-Klaveren/dp/9079294322/)

So the dude was a rabid anti muslim islamophobe and a member of the dutch parliament. He was directly responsible for pushing anti muslim bills while he was a member. However, once he left, he decided to write a book against Islam and in doing so he was able to research the religion and alhamdulillah became a muslim. He then wrote this book about his journey and experience.

The main theme of this book seems to be that he was associating in his mind, modernist movements of today with Islam and that modernist sect turned him off from the whole religion. In almost every chapter, he goes over the issue at hand, whether apostasy, terrorism or anything else and what he thought Islam said on it based on the modernistic ideas vs what traditional islam says about it.

Here's a typical paragraph,

> The notion that Islam is a static ideology of terror is only sustainable when ignoring the context, rejecting the traditional views of warfare, and embracing the idea that 'Wahhabism' (or 'Salafism') is synonymous with Islam. ... Radical forces within Islam seem to have no concern for these theological frames that teach a general tolerance, which transcends religious affiliation.
