I've always liked this translation, and have always heard positive things about it in real life. However, recently in one of the discord servers I frequent, I noticed that the Quran bot doesn't have a Muhammad Asad translation. Then I wiki'ed it, and in the wiki article, an interesting passage stood out under "Criticism":

Considered one of the leading translations of the Qur'an, it has been criticized by some traditionalists for its Mutazilite leanings. The book was banned in Saudi Arabia in 1974 (before its publication) due to differences on some creedal issues compared with the Salafi ideology prevalent there.

Now, honestly, something being banned in Saudi Arabia would only make it more worthwhile for me :D, but I'm curious about any exact verses which have been translated problematically or badly. The only example the reference in the wikipedia article gives is about the story of the Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice, where apparently Muhammad Asad's footnote states it was Ismail as opposed to Ishaq (PBUTA), something that isn't mentioned in the text of the Quran itself, but is generally accepted by Muslims.

Does anyone have any other examples from the translated text itself? Or is this all just drummed up controversy because Muhammad Asad didn't seek out Saudi approval for his translation?
