If you got married as a person of a non-Abrahamic religion (not person of the book), and then you separated and went on to live separate lives without legally divorcing, and then later on in life you accepted Islam...strictly going by Sharia, can you marry another Muslim without needing to divorce?

To clarify...

Person A (kafir female) marries person B (non-Muslim).

Later they split but do not legally divorce. They both go on to live their lives separately.

Much later in life, person A accepts Islam and becomes a Muslim.

According to Sharia, is person A's marriage to person B valid?

If not, can person A marry person C (a Muslim) without divorcing person B?
