I'm a non-religious theist, following the philosophical tradition of the scholastics and Aristotelians, much like the Muslim philosopher Averroes.

I'm interested in Islam and want to know why you all think it's true. Do you take a more fideistic approach? Is there good evidence to believe Islam was divinely revealed? More evidence than say Christianity? I admire the beauty of Islam, its traditions and devotions but one thing that troubles me about Islam is that it claims Jesus wasn't actually executed, but as a lay historian it seems to be the academic consensus that Jesus's death by crucifixion is historically indisputable.

Moreover, how does one prove the Quran was the divinely revealed word of Allah?

Also, this may be anecdotal, but I've seen some very derogatory criticisms of Christianity from Islam. I've heard Muslims call Christian friends devil worshippers, or Catholics evil doers. Not sure if this is the norm or of I came across some bad apples.

What would compel a non believer to give his life to Islam?
