Yes , he had an Injeel:
نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَنزَلَ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِيلَ
( 3/3 ) He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.
The word "Injeel" is an Arabic transform from the word (εὐαγγέλιον / evangélion) which means "The Good News" , and since that was the Gospel's name in the Qur'an , it can be deduced that this Injeel was written in Greek.
However , Jesus was an Aramaic speaker , the common language in Palestine at the time , but there's no conflict that the Injeel was written in a different language since Jerusalem was under the hold of the Roman empire + Jews knew the language.

According to the Qur'an , and unlike prophet Muhammad , Jesus was literate , and it's impossible he could read/write without writing Allah's revelation:
وَيُعَلِّمُهُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِيلَ
( 3/48 ) And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel.

OK , so Jesus had an Injeel , but why does my Christian colleague says that Book never existed ?!
Tell him to read the Bible well , Jesus himself spoke of the Injeel:
Mark 1:14-15
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
And the apostles (of Jesus) had it:
Acts 8:25
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
And Jewish Saul (who Christians call Paul) mentioned it in his messages:
1 Thessalonians 2:1-9
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

From that Wikipedia link , it can be deduced that the textual variants (or tahreef in Arabic) happened very early before the emergence of Islam , and Jesus Injeel could have been dissolved in the hands of the copyists as well.

Wait a minute , the Gospel is four books , how are those related to Jesus Injeel ?
It's a long story , the four canonical books that makes the modern Gospel which are (Matthew - Mark - Luke - John) were estimated to be written at the end of the 1st century , after the apostles death , and these four books/Gospels make the New Testament.
The common method of preserving Jesus teachings was the oral tradition , just like the Hadeeth narrations in Islam , and that means we can never compare these books to the Qur'an , but to the Sunnah/Hadeeth.
The first collection/harmony of these four Gospels was the Diatessaron , compiled between 160-170 CE , too late after the writing of these Gospels , and given that the New Testament can not be traced back to Jesus (like tracing the Hadeeth in Sunnah to prophet Muhammad) , the writers of the New Testament (in addition to the corruption) are anonymous !
However , Allah implied in the Qur'an that the New Testament (while corrupted) is still holding remnants of the truth:
الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالْأَغْلَالَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ
( 7/157 ) Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them.
Of course , the implication here is towards the corrupted Gospel , not Jesus Injeel , which means that the New Testament has content from the Injeel.

So the apostles spoke of Jesus Injeel , while the early Christians had four canonical Gospels , what happened to the Injeel in this gap ?
From Muslim POV , it's totally unknown what happened to Jesus Injeel , and even Christians deny it , but history is all about truth , and the reasons behind the disappearance of Jesus Injeel are three:
- The long delay in writing Jesus teachings.
- The persecution of the early Christians by the Romans.
- Jewish Saul.
For one , early Christians lived on the false hope of the next coming of Jesus to the world. However , not only it paralyzed them from writing his teachings , it even left them astray from preserving Jesus Injeel , and Allah made a dangerous testimony against them:
وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَىٰ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ
( 5/14 ) And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded.
This delay caused them to write many non-canonical Gospels by many anonymous writers , you can read more on Apocrypha in Wikipedia: Apocrypha
Two , the persecution of the early Christians extended to about 300 years , many martyrs died , books burned , and in a harsh environment like this it could have been too easy for the Injeel to be lost.
Three , anyone who reads about Christianity knows that Christians are following the teachings of Saul , not the teachings of Jesus , monotheism. There's no reason to preserve the Injeel when some apostle starts a new creed , a Jewish apostle: Pauline Christianity
If you want to know why I'm calling him by his real name , read about Abdullah Ibn Saba' and Ka'ab Al-Ahbaar to see by yourself how Jews tried to intervene in Allah's religion , the only difference between them and Saul is that the second succeeded in his mission !

What about the Gospel of Barnabas , it contains many interesting writings like the ascension of Jesus and the prophecy of Muhammad , could it be the Injeel ?
No , five reasons on why the Gospel of Barnabas is a fabricated book + not written by a Muslim:
- The writer mistakes the number of heavens to be 10 , while any Muslim knows they are 7.
- The writer makes mistakes in the names of the Angels , and a Muslim will not do that.
- The Gospel was discovered in the hands of Christians in Europe , not with Muslims.
- The writer is well-versed with the Old Testament (the Torah) , and this is unlikely to be a Muslim.
- The writer claims that Jesus called prophet Muhammad by his real name , which means this book was written after the emergence of Islam.
Prophet Jesus never called Muhammad by his real name , Allah said:
وَإِذْ قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُم مُّصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَمُبَشِّرًا بِرَسُولٍ يَأْتِي مِن بَعْدِي اسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ ۖ
( 61/6 ) And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad."
My theory is that this Gospel might have been written by a Jew who wanted to troll the Christians , but I could be wrong.
I beg you , never use that Gospel when debating Christians , there's no point from testifying by a fabricated book when the Qur'an exists.

So what now ? ..... Any hope finding that Injeel ?
The only chance left to find the Injeel is archeological evidence , maybe a group of Christians hidden it and it is waiting there for anyone to find it ..... maybe.
In my opinion , every time I think about the Injeel , I always remember this verse:
وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا
( 17/86 ) And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.
And Allah never said He protected the Torah/Injeel , but the Qur'an was a different case:
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
( 15/9 ) Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
