Suicide is obviously haram in Islam.

It's unfortunate that I can't seem to find many information regarding to suicide of other person as result of your actions even if your action was good or neutral.

Perhaps this is because the topic is taboo to discuss in many cultures. I'll not speculate further.

Anyway, my question is:

Are you held responsible for other person's death if it's not your fault? To what extent are you responsible in preventing a suicide, are you required to bear the harm caused to yourself so the other person will not commit suicide?

Examples are most commonly found in abusive relationships where the one half threatens the other half of suicide to get what they want i.e. threatening suicide in event of a divorce.

Another example, if you met someone and you didn't spend effort or didn't stay in contact with them, they end up committing suicide which you could have prevented had you did more. Or maybe you find them difficult to stay friends with for a reason but they commit suicide because they have no friends.

I'm not looking for "yes" or "no" answers. I'm looking for scholarly sources where these questions are answered whether directly or indirectly.
