If I told Allah I wouldn't do something (not a sin), and I end up doing it, is that still considered an oath? For example, saying I wouldn't eat a donut for a week (silly example, but you get the idea, the oath didn't involve a sin).
I didn't say "I swear by you, Allah" or something like that, but more like "Allah, I will not eat another _"
Is there certain words or phrases that need to be used for it to become an oath? I know breaking an oath is a big sin so I am just wondering what constitutes as an oath.
