Sometimes I see tiny, floofy, cute dogs and wonder if they would even be considered dogs in Islam. I mean if you look at the diversity of dogs, would people during the time of the Prophet pbuh have even considered the tiny ones to be dogs? Of course now we have dna to be able to group species, but was that the meaning of the prohibition on keeping dogs to include all of the species before species was even a concept?
