I’m a non-Muslim but I’m writing a novel which partially takes place in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. If a Muslim died in combat and the Muslim military was forced to evacuate and didn’t have time for a proper burial, what would be allowed? Could the military leave the body, or would they be forced to do a burial at sea? The force they are evacuating from is non-Muslim, so leaving the body would probably result in an improper burial or even cremation.
