I have read that dowry is given to the woman as a gift. I have read also if the woman asks for divorce then she should give her dowry back.
Why would a gift be given back? This sounds nasty unless it is not a gift especially in case of huge dawry.
It is unfair too if the husband treats his wife bad till she asks for divorce then he takes everything from her that if he agreed to divorce in the first place!
I have seen some sheikhs say even if he treats her bad, she will have to give everything she has been gifted. Living this life will be like hell!
Even if it is okay to keep the dowry with proved abuse, we know realistically she wouldn't be able to prove it!
Another question, it is the wife right, correct? Why do some fathers take it instead of the wife? It doesn't feel like a gift but a money to buy the bride! This is common with children marriage!
If it is actually a gift to the wife, provide an evidence please!
