Hello! I'm a Christian who enjoys learning about different faiths and am hoping someone can help me out.
The Quran says that:
1) the Gospel is the word of Allah (3:3-4)
2) and Allah's words can't be changed (18:27).
But Muslims say the Gospel, the word of Allah, has been changed (corrupted).
I have heard many say that the apostle Paul corrupted the Gospel. But he lived in the 1st century, and the Quran was revealed around 600 years later in the 7th century.
Allah would have known if someone had corrupted his words. Yet the Quran insists that Christians at the time of Muhammad had the preserved Gospel:
3) The Quran commands "the people of the Gospel" (Christians) to follow the Scripture that Allah revealed to us (5:47, 68).
4) Allah told Muhammad to have the Jews and Christians confirm his revelations since they had the words of Allah (10:94).
Muhammad must not have done so.
If the Gospel is true, then Islam cannot be since the Gospel contradicts it.
If the Gospel is false (corrupted), then the Quran must also be false because it affirms the Gospel as inspired, preserved, and authoritative. The statement that Allah's words can't be changed would be an error.
Can someone please shed light on this? Am I missing something?
