I’m looking for non-violent and less extreme interpretations of these verses.
These interpretations mean at best these verses justify a holy war and total conversion of a hostile power as a response to aggression, or at the very worst, holy war and total conversion in response to something as simple as a government not being based on Islamic teachings.
I really want to broaden my perspective and rebuke the opinions of extremists, but these sources both give readings that are extreme in my eyes. If you guys could help with finding new perspectives, I’d be highly appreciative.
