Hey there,

Some background: I am a deeply spiritual person, with no denominational allegance to any one religion. I have quite a bit of experience with Budhism(self educated) and Judaism (raised for 13 years. Left at 13)

It's bothered me that I know nothing of Islam outside of some vague, indirect impression i have developed as a result to immersion in Western, Liberal American Culture.

I really would love to learn about islam and more deeply understand, even practice the religion itself. Outside of picking up a Koran, I don't really know where to start. I imagine that reading by oneself would not be as enlightening as going along with a teacher, guide, or congregation.

Would anyone here have any advice as how an outsider could best expose oneself, and learn about islam, the moral architecture of its belief, and islamic culture?

I really love the positivity of this page and community having scoped it out for a bit.
