Hello,

I’m an Anthropology honors undergraduate student at UC Irvine researching the systemic effects of Islamophobia on mental health services and quality of care for Muslim patients. This survey is open to all Muslim individuals and couples living in the United States and Canada, who have used mental health services (psychiatry, counseling, therapy, social work). All feedback (good, bad and neutral) is welcome.

A little bit about me: I’m a 24-year old Palestinian-Mexican American, born and raised in California by immigrant Muslim parents. I have personally experienced a gap in mental health discussions with my parents and the community, as well as a gap between the mental health system and my religious and cultural upbringing. I know my situation isn’t unique and I’ve heard similar stories from friends and family. With that being said, I haven’t seen this addressed as much in the national push for mental health awareness, even from our own community advocates.

Because of this, I want to use my work to highlight issues that may be neglected and work towards addressing them and increasing the quality of care. Interviewees can also be anonymous, as I understand this is a sensitive subject.

If you are interested in being interviewed, DM me! I'm also including an anonymous survey for those interested in participating: https://forms.gle/j5oC3LPzPkQhEPu1A

Thank you for taking the time to read this, your input and contribution is appreciated!
