Asalamu alaikum, is it required of me or just preferred that I take my Shahada at my local masjid in front of a witness, or can it be done by myself within my own home? I'm in the process of becoming a convert. I began reading the Quran, studying and practicing salah as well as making some life changes so that I can be a good muslim once I vow my commitment to Allah.
