I’m a revert. I reverted a few years ago, and I find that for me, I’m strong in terms of knowledge, but the more practical stuff is harder for me because I don’t really have much of a community around me.

I want to keep learning, but here’s where I’m stuck. I know learning suras is important, but if I memorise it now (I know some for prayer, but more), what about mistakes? 0r won’t it make less sense if I don’t understand the complete meaning as I do it?

In regards to learning Arabic, it would be more helpful for later study of Hadiths, Qu’ran, fiqh etc. I also did a semester of Fus7a in university so I know the basics. I have several books for Arabic, and studied languages in college, so I think I could learn a lot by myself. I also have more access to people who speak Arabic that could correct me etc.

I’d keep learning outside of that either way, but I don’t know if learning more Qu’ran now would hinder my eventual progress later on.
