Is hiding things permissible?

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Is it permissible to hide things from people without lying to them? For example, if a child got a bad mark on his/her test, can he/she hide this from their parents, but that they don't lie if their parents ask them. Thank you, جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ خَيْرًا‎
