Ok so the background is recently I saw a video of Dr Zakir Naik (amongst others) where he has said that Pubg is Haram because it has introduced idol worship in its latest update. I dont play pubg but apparently your pray to some idols and get guns,etc.

Video games can basically be divided into 2 categories that are;

1: Video games based on the real world(the life,history,religions,countries,etc as we know to exist) (Story can be fictional but still its based on the real world that we know)

2: Video games based on Fantasy(made up world,history,mythology,alien races,etc)

Yes they can be further broken into sub categories such as taking case 1 and presenting alternate history, games such as Wolfenstein regarding WW2 where Germany wins, etc but lets not go into that right now.

Ok so here is my understanding regarding case 1, Imagine there is a game where a person is a mossad agent and your mission is to bomb a Muslim Holy Site(Astagfirullah), or imagine a video game where they abuse Jesus's name(Astagfirullah) like they do in movies,songs,etc.This kind of games/entertainment I understand and totally agree that is Haraam to play because its insults Islam or the Prophets which are a part of our Faith(Emaan). Imagine a call of duty game where they have caricatures of Prophet Muhammed PBUH (Astagfirullah) on the walls of a map,etc. This is Haraam because it mocks a real religion, a real Prophet that billion look up to more then their families(Alhumdulillah)

Now my understanding regarding case 2, Imagine a video game that is based on lore that someone in a game development company wrote up(Elder Scrolls as an example) or taken from history that we know is fake such as Norse mythology( the upcoming Assassins Creed Valhalla). We know both of these are made up worlds and do not exist. In Elder Scrolls for example there are different gods for different things such as god of time, living gods that people worship in the lore,etc. In games with greek mythology you have zeus and in norse you have odin.

Now in these games you are sometimes a follower of that religion and sometimes you pray/worship to their idols and ask for their help in the games. For example you will play a Viking who believes in odin as god,etc in the upcoming Assasins Creed Valhalla game, basically you are a part of that fantasy world, a world where there are no real life religions, historical figures,etc. It's purely made up just for entertainment and playing as a game.

This is where my question comes in Now is worshipping/asking a fake god in a fantasy based video game Haraam? Does it mean that we commit Shirk every time we play that game? I mean I know killing or stealing in a video game can't be a sin but can doing shirk in a game exist?

Answer this question if you practice Islam and have some knowldge. Please I don't want anyone who doesn't care or does not have enough knowledge to answer.
