"The Holy Prophet's ﷺ life, the Sira — which is an embracing of the possibilities of the world, not a recession from them — is there not in a kind of moralising sense but in an ontological sense. Everything out there is of God, praising God. The function of the human being is to see what is excellent in everything and to see what God means by any particular thing. And it may be the names of Majesty; God means something by Abu Lahab, or by the Holy Prophet's ﷺ sons dying. [We must] see the Divine in things.

That's the meaning of Islam: surrender. Everything is the effulgence of His power and His will and His knowledge. There is nothing else going on. It's only Him who is the Agent in existence. And because of that, how can you not want to live a life that embraces, includes, affirms and looks to whatever is best and divine and meaningful in every human being?

And then you become 'praiser' — that's the meaning of his ﷺ name 'Muhammad'. Not just staying forever in the Cave of Hira but going out and in creation, joining it in praise and becoming the best praiser in creation— because creation is nothing other than the dynamic interplay of God's most beautiful names."
