Salam everyone,
Recently I was told that my uncles wife (who’s Christian) is facing some scary health complications. I told my uncle that I would be praying for her so that she is not faced with hardship as she has two young children. However, my mother became very angry with me because she told me that making dua for a non Muslim is a big sin and that Allah does not allow for a Muslim to make dua for a Christian. I became really upset because shes family and I don’t want anything to happen to her because she has a baby too. So I was wondering, is it permissible to make dua for a non Muslim? Especially one who is in your family (although my family treats her badly because they don’t like that my uncle married a Christian and my mother didn’t seem moved at all by the news of her health complication).
