Do any of you know of any courses or anything online which focuses on teaching native English speakers to read the Quran in Arabic and to "UNDERSTAND"? A lot of programs teach recitation and/or memorization, which is fine, but I'd much rather learn the meaning behind what I'm reading, the context, when the verses were revealed, why they were revealed, the grammatical beauty behind things, the "tafsir", etc. Is there anything like this online? The only resource I've come across is an online institute named Fawakih which seemed to be perfect for what I was looking for but sadly it didn't work out for me for reasons I'd rather not mention here.
Please don't recommend any beginner materials that teach the alphabet or basic vocabulary, as I'm looking more for a program, an online academy, or certified teachers.
My local Masjid does NOT do this, unfortunately.
Like I said, one day my goal is to be able to open the Quran, read it in Arabic from cover to cover, and know the meaning and tafsir behind it and how to extrapolate meaning. I know this is not an easy task. I'm not really looking to memorize it or learn how to recite it at the moment.
I'd consider myself an intermediate learner of MSA. I'm doing this more for religious purposes than I am to "improve my Arabic."
