As Salamu Aleikum, I have a friend who’s in a very tricky situation. He has a father who was very abusive to him and family verbally, physically, mentally, emotionally, and even in some cases financially.
There has been separation between his mom and dad but slowly his mom is going back to his father but he doesn’t want a relationship with his father at all. He stopped talking to him when he was around 15 even though they lived in the same household. The father is just very neglectful of his duties as a father, muslim, and husband. So that’s why there’s a lot of resentment for all these years.
Now there’s a rule for cutting ties with kinship, you aren’t allowed to go three days without talking. But he can’t go back to this situation that his father brings. What should he do by Islam? and in general?
