We know that handshakes and physical contact is not permissible between opposite genders and non-mahram. And that this causes issues in a Western workplace and other professional environments as the workplaces are not segregated and contact with the opposite gender is an inevitability.
If I refrained from shaking the hand of a Woman and then shaked the hand of her Male colleague, she would probably feel offended, even if I explained. We know this is not an act of disrespect, rather one of respect, they won't always understand this.
Therefore, should and can I refrain from shaking ANYONES hand, Male or Female, in the Workplace to make it fair and so that any one person doesn't feel particularly targeted?
