Salaam everyone! I used to be an EMT very briefly around 6 years ago and am going to be going to back to school to recertify as soon as I can. When I was in school we did not have really anything taught to us about what might occur with treating patients from different cultures and religions. (Aside from a blanket statement of be professional and advocate for your patient)

I know that as a male I may run into cultural issues when treating female patients and in the field you don’t always have a female partner who you could have take lead.

So to my vague question: What are some issues that you could foresee that I might run into? Also any suggestions on how to go about in said situations?

I have a bit of anxiety about this just out of the fear of unintentionally offending patient in my care or their loved ones.

Thank you in advance for taking the time for reading and I look forward to learning more about Islam.
