Don't get me wrong, I understand why dogs are considered dirty - in large part due to the myriad of germs their saliva carries. That, and all the dirty areas they like to lick and just roam around in.

But are cats really so different? Do they not go around hunting dirty things - notably mice and pigeons, which carry all sorts of diseases? They put that in their mouths and return home with it. They also, like dogs, may end up roaming around in dirty areas during their adventures. All those germs remain in their mouths and paws, which they then bring to your home.

So what is it about cats that makes them pure despite all this? I understand they clean themselves with their tongues, but dogs do the same as well.
