Hello everybody,
Im a man living in the US, but I also spend time in many other countries and am originally from Brazil.
I am living with a Turkish gentleman now and he is very devout. He has relatively moderate views of women, but many others from the Surrah and Qur'an.
But let's say, for example, a random Jordanian or Persian man comes to US. One who never left his country. In doing so, he will be shocked at how women here do not veil themselves and just go out to clubs and bars in skimpy clothes.
The man will be probably be taken aback by this, he might even think, " هذا البلد مليء بالعاهرات" and will seek to go somewhere more modest.
Now, I have heard from a few westerners the same thing. That the Islamic world is much better for women than the US, Latin America, and Europe. But this is a minority. The majority believe Islam devalues women and puts them in second place. Is this false? Why?
I have heard many women defend Sharia Law and often times you would have western women leave their countries and move to the muslim ones. But vice versa happens much more often.
Is this changing? I mean with countries like UAE and Qatar accepting more and more Westerners, will this fundamentally change how the rest of the world views Islam?
