I’m trying to understand the problems with Riba and why it’s one of the biggest sins in Islam.
[2:278] “O People who Believe! Fear Allah and forego the remaining usury, if you are Muslims.”
[2:279] “And if you do not, then be certain of a war with Allah and His Noble Messenger; and if you repent, take back your principal amount; neither you cause harm to someone, nor you be harmed.”
Buying anything “essential” such as a house/car in the West is essentially impossible without dealing with interest. Even if every Muslim were to say, live in apartments and use Uber, what about the issue of Mosques? Mosques too require large loans in order to be built.
I’m just a layman when it comes to economics but the idea of interest seems simple enough. I get that it’s a bad thing since it’s essentially stealing but what are we supposed to do about it? Jzk for your answers!
