As a revert (just converted last year), I found and joined this sub right after I created a reddit account and let me just say, it's been great. There's so much I've learned through discussion, seeing Islamic perspectives applied to contemporary affairs, and what's nice is this sub is mostly focused on backing up discussion with accepted sources, keeping discussion true to Islam. I worry though about other people who find communities that use the Quran and Hadith in twisted ways to teach people who might know any better. I was given plenty of warning when I converted about what sources to trust, especially online.
So I was hoping to get some opinions/discussion on how to deal with/confront/refute when people use the Quran or Hadith but they twist it to justify clearly un-Islamic principles? How is someone uninformed/not skeptical enough to be careful of this? For example, there is this "muslimredpill" sub (not going to link because it's terrible and borderline NSFW with some of the language used) that cherry-picks and twists the Quran and Hadith to promote their disgusting views of women, when saying/believing these things about women is clearly un-Islamic.
